Deakin University - Melbourne's leading education and training exporter
It was 1974 when Deakin University first opened its doors as a small regional university located just outside of Geelong. Fast forward to 2017 and Deakin has evolved into one of Australia's most dynamic international universities – globally recognised and highly regarded as a trusted education brand across the Asia-Pacific Region.
Deakin was one of Australia's first universities to open an international office – located in India – and continues to expand its export opportunities having established partnerships in more than 100 countries around the world, and opening new offices in Colombo, Chengdu and China.
For three consecutive years since 2014, Deakin has been the recipient of Victoria's most prestigious export award – the Government Of Victoria Export Award (GOVEA) – for their outstanding innovation and international success in the field of education and training services.
Deakin's most recent submission to the GOVEA awards in 2016 focused on the University's sustained growth in international enrolments and investment in developing research partnerships and world-class facilities.
Deakin's Vice-Chancellor, Jane Den Hollander regularly attends the Victorian Government's Trade Missions, and acknowledges the importance and key opportunities they provide, particularly in countries such as India and China where government support is extremely valued.
Since being recognised as Victoria's leading education and training exporter, Deakin continues to rank as one of the top 100 universities in the world aged less than 50 years, and in 2016 secured the highly coveted position in the top 2 per cent of the research-driven Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
