Global Victoria is planning to support a delegation of Victorian METS companies and education institutions at PERUMIN to be held in Arequipa, Peru from 16 to 20 September 2019.
PERUMIN is the second largest mining event in the Americas. The event includes a trade show, conference and a myriad of satellite networking events. It is the most important gathering for the Peruvian mining community. PERUMIN has been central to the successful market entry and expansion strategies of many Australian METS firms.
Thanks to its location in Arequipa, the capital of Peru’s southern mining belt, PERUMIN effectively captures senior executives, mine superintendents, procurement managers and technical staff for the duration of the event.
In 2017, PERUMIN attracted more than 65,000 visitors and delegations from over 10 different countries.
Peru has positioned itself as Latin America’s best performing mining market.
It is the second largest producer of copper in the world and is one of the world’s four top producers for silver, lead, zinc, tin and molybdenum. It also boasts important gold, phosphates and uranium deposits. Over the past 10 years, high rates production have attracted US$60 billion of inbound investment into Peru’s mining sector.
With a pipeline of 49 major mine projects estimated at over US$59 billion to be developed over the next few years, Peru offers considerable opportunities for Victorian companies.
Arequipa is known as "The White City" because it was built almost entirely in ashlar. It is located 2325 metres high in the desert mountains of the Andes and is surrounded by 3 volcanoes the Misti, the Chachani and the Picchu Picchu. Without a doubt, it is the second most important city in the country, being currently an axis of economic development in southern Peru.
