Australia’s biggest small business festival has kicked off with more than 500 events set to take place throughout August in celebration of Victoria’s vibrant small business sector.
Small Business Festival 2017
When Victoria's Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade launched the festival on 1 August 2017, he encouraged “every small business owner, manager, employee or anybody considering starting a small business” to attend.
The festival will provide Victoria’s small business owners with the information and inspiration they need to grow, such as how to tap into international networks and access new markets.
Featuring hundreds of events that explore topics ranging from social media, digital marketing, networking and financial management, the festival will also play host to an impressive line-up of inspirational business leaders sharing their success stories and secrets to running a small business.
This year’s festival will feature more events than ever in regional Victoria including Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Gippsland, Shepparton, Mildura, North East Victoria, Great South Coast, Western Southern Mallee and Western and Central Victoria.
Small business plays a crucial role in regional economies, and Victoria has more than 556,000 small businesses that make a significant contribution to our economy.
Making up for around a third of the state’s output in goods and services, and generating almost half of all private sector jobs, small business continues to grow in Victoria at a rate faster than any other Australian state – growing by 2.8 per cent with more than 15,300 new small businesses created in 2016.
