The Minister for Trade and Investment awarded the next recipients of the Victorian Government's Hamer Scholarship Program for 2018 last week.
36 Victorians are being given the chance to embark on a cultural and language immersion experience in China, Japan, Korea or Indonesia.
Recipients of a Hamer Scholarship undertake intensive language training, develop cross-cultural links and build professional networks within their nominated country of study. This year, 16 scholarships were awarded for China, 8 for Japan, 9 for Korea and 3 for Indonesia.
In all, there have been more than 287 Victorians who have been awarded a Hamer Scholarship since the program began in 2012. Previous Hamer Scholars have gone on to successful careers including Victoria's Deputy Commissioner for China, a Trade Commissioner in Beijing and a founder of a marketing firm.
