Southeast Asia Insights Autumn 2023

Exciting opportunities with Southeast Asia have taken centre stage in recent months, with extensive travel to Melbourne by delegations from across the region.

Creating connections through fashion and sport

Buyers from across Southeast Asia attended the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival, an annual celebration of fashion, art, ideas and creative endeavours. Victoria welcomed 10 buyers from Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam and will continue to work across the region to support Victorian designers and businesses wanting to go global.

Victoria also welcomed delegates from across the globe to the SportNXT 2023 Summit, an innovative sports leadership summit that gathers global leaders from all sectors of the sports industry to create, share and connect.

Global Victoria hosted delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore working in various sectors, including sporting infrastructure, e-sports and gaming, and government authorities.

Strengthening research links with Indonesia

All five universities had opportunities to present on their Higher Degree by Research programs to over 400 BRIN researchers in attendance.

The forum provided an important platform to identify and secure opportunities in higher education, research and innovation.
