Spotlight on the Netherlands and the United Kingdom – Practical Guides for Victorian Businesses.

Global Victoria recently launched two practical, go-to guides for Victorian companies interested in exporting to or investing in the Netherlands and United Kingdom – Doing Business in the Netherlands – a Guide for Victorian businesses exporting to the Netherlands and Doing Business with the UK – A Guide for Victorian Companies. Working in partnership with our close partners at the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce Australia, Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency , KPMG, the Australian British Chamber of Commerce, UK Consulate in Melbourne and the UK Department for Business and Trade, both guides give sectoral overviews and useful insights into the many factors to consider when exporting or investing overseas.  They also include first-hand examples of Victorian companies that have succeeded in their export journeys.

Doing Business in the Netherlands

Home to the largest population of Dutch-born residents in Australia, Victoria shares a long-standing and vibrant relationship with the Netherlands. Today, the links between the Netherlands and Victoria continue to grow through areas of mutual strength in energy and renewables, fintech and agtech, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and the circular economy.

Doing Business with the UK

A guest at the launch flicks through the Guide

The United Kingdom is one of Victoria’s longest-standing trading partners – a country with which we share a common history and a connected future. Today, with over 210,000 UK-born Victorians, the largest of any overseas-born community in the state, we are rediscovering many new and exciting possibilities for increased trade and investment into each other’s markets.

The UK is a growing export partner for Victoria and the second-largest foreign direct investor in the state. With these strong ties and the Australia-United Kingdom Free Trade Agreement coming into force on 31 May 2023, there are even more opportunities for Victorian companies to grow their business engagement with the UK.

With this increased interest in each other’s markets, Global Victoria partnered with the Australian British Chamber of Commerce, the UK Consulate in Melbourne, and the UK Department for Business and Trade to produce Doing Business with the UK – A Guide for Victorian Companies.

The Guide was officially launched by Minister for Trade and Investment, Mr Tim Pallas and UK Consul General to Melbourne, Steph Lysaght.

At the launch event, guests heard from Victorians Demetrio Zema, CEO and Founder of Law Squared and Gavin New, CEO of Ronson Gears – both of whom have successfully expanded to the UK.
