US and Canada engagement continues to grow
Our expanded team of in-market trade specialists have welcomed and supported numerous Victorian delegations to the US and Canada over recent months. Delegations have spanned healthcare, mining, equipment, technology and services (METS), natural products, technology, creative industries, and other sectors.
Victorian delegations were supported by our in-market team to attend activities, including:
- JP Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco
- Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) conference in Toronto
- World Agri-tech Innovation Summit in San Francisco
- Natural Products Expo West 2023 in Anaheim
- South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin
- Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco
Offshore
Our expanded team has also been busy providing 1-on-1 advice and support to Victorian businesses, helping them to find export success, as well as helping to promote Victorian capabilities in the region.
In March, approximately 60 US buyers, distributors and industry representatives gathered in New York for a special tasting of Victoria's diverse range of wine styles from across 15 Victorian wine regions. Global Victoria was proud to support Wine Victoria and the Rathbone Wine Group on this event, helping to foster the international growth of some of Victoria’s finest wine growers and producers.
Back in Victoria
There have also been plenty of opportunities to welcome US and Canadian companies in Victoria.
The 2023 Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition.
Over 100 delegates from the US and Canada attended the 2023 Australian International Airshow and Aerospace & Defence Exposition (AVALON). The Victorian Government delivered a business engagement program connecting Victorian defence companies with the US and Canadian defence delegates and key multinational defence primes.
AVALON is a major trade exposition for Australia's aviation, aerospace and defence industries. This year, there were 48,516 attendances across the three dedicated trade days, 24 per cent larger than the 2019 industry event.
This is in addition to a 14 per cent increase in the number of participating companies (794 in total).
Delegates from the US and Canada were also welcomed at other major events in Melbourne such as SportNXT and the Melbourne Fashion Festival.

Global Victoria Trade Mission to BIO 2023
Victoria stands proud as a world-renowned Life Sciences cluster, attracting global companies and accounting for nearly half of Australia's pharmaceutical exports.
From 5-8 June, Global Victoria will lead a large delegation to exhibit at the 2023 BIO International Convention in Boston, Massachusetts.
Get involved if you plan to be in Boston during the convention. Access a dynamic agenda of networking activities and the opportunity to connect with over 50 Victorian companies and Victorian Government representatives.
