Lyn-Al Young’s work is centred around a deep desire to honour her cultural heritage.

Lyn-Al is a Gunnai, Wiradjuri, Gunditjmara and Yorta Yorta designer creates one-off pieces of wearable art. These garments celebrate her Indigenous Australian identity through colours, themes and textures inspired by her ancestral lands. Understanding the power of the fashion-art fusion and its effect on the wearer, Young aims to imbue each of her designs with vitality and strength.

“I’m an Indigenous Australian fashion designer. My grandmother is a Yorta Yorta woman and grew up by the Murray River,” Young said in an interview with Vogue Australia. “It’s a culturally significant place for me and I feel more connected when I paint there.”
