Why you should apply
South Korea has been an important market for the life sciences sector and increasingly important for attracting phase one clinical trials into Victoria and increasing partnering and collaborations in medical research.
BIO KOREA is one of the most comprehensive biotechnology events in Asia and has grown in size and influence since it first commenced in 2006.
Victoria has a number of key strengths that align with South Korea’s life sciencess sector including genetics and genomics; neuroscience; regenerative and personalised medicine; innovative therapeutics and diagnostics and clinical trials. There is an opportunity for Victoria to strengthen relationships in South Korea across these sectors.
Global Victoria is looking to facilitate a four-day program attendance to the 3-day BIO KOREA Conference, a Team Australia welcome function, a Clinical Trials session and a proposed site visit program.
The purpose of the trade mission to BIO KOREA 2025 is to support Victorian life sciences companies discover new opportunities, form promising partnerships and promote the Victorian life sciences ecosystem.
In partnership with Austrade, activities will include access to the Australian Pavilion within the exhibition hall at the BIO KOREA Conference, a complimentary conference pass per company participating in the trade mission, and multiple networking events
Why South Korea?
South Korea is the 10th largest pharmaceutical market in the world and has a strong focus on domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing.
South Korea’s bio-health industry has been growing rapidly in recent years with the Korean government focussed on creating a world leading bio-health sector. This has included implementing a program that oversees the entire cycle of the bio-health sector, from R&D to licensing, manufacturing, and marketing.
South Korea is becoming increasing active in the global market due to its drug development capabilities and focus on exploring areas of unmet medical needs.
Key Pharmaceutical companies based in Korea include Celltrion, Yuhan, SD Biosensor, GC Pharma, Korea Kolmar, Samsung Biologics, SK Bioscience and Daewooang Pharmaceuticals.

The Bio Korea organiser will be arranging one site visit on Friday 9 May which is optional for everyone attending the exhibition.
What's not included?
It is the participants responsibility to manage and fund:
- airfares
- visas
- accommodation
- costs incurred outside of trade mission activities, such as meals and external activities
- transport costs, such as taxis, Ubers and public transport.
