The Victorian Government remains focused on deepening and strengthening engagement with Indonesia by welcoming the Indonesian B20 delegation to Melbourne this week to discuss key opportunities for mutual trade and investment.

The delegation received a briefing from Victoria’s Commissioner to Southeast Asia Rebecca Hall, about Victoria’s work and priorities in the region and key areas of opportunities for Victorian businesses and exporters.

Key opportunities included the digital economy, green economy, health and wellness, as well as shared interests in electric vehicle (EV) technologies, advanced manufacturing and fintech.

The event also featured insights from the Ambassador of Indonesia, Consul-General of Indonesia, representatives from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and Chair of the B20 Indonesia.

Delegates heard from representatives across a range of industries who shared their experience of working across Indonesia and Victoria.

Indonesia is Victoria’s sixth-largest goods export market, with Victorian exports to Indonesia totalling $1.1 billion in 2021 and two-way trade reaching $2.8 billion.

About the B20

The B20 marks the continued strengthening of busB20 Banner iness and governmental relations between Victoria and Indonesia and follows a visit to Melbourne by Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy in April this year.

As the official business dialogue forum of the G20 Heads of state and Government Summit, the B20 provides an important forum for discussion and policy development, particularly as our regions work towards an inclusive, sustainable and resilient economic recovery after the effects of COVID-19.

Participation in the B20 also provides a unique opportunity to contribute to long-term B20 Indonesia Legacy Programs, such as the Green Transition, Equitable Healthcare and Female Empowerment.
