The Victorian Government’s AI Mission Statement sets out how the state will responsibly harness AI to drive innovation, attract investment, boost global competitiveness, and create the skilled jobs of the future.
It positions Victoria as a leader in AI development, adoption, and infrastructure, ensuring the benefits of AI are maximised, while risks are carefully managed and people and businesses are supported.
The AI Mission Statement is underpinned by six pillars:
- investment attraction and adoption
- data centres and digital infrastructure
- local innovation, products and services
- talent and workforce
- ethical AI use
- public sector adoption
These pillars will ensure we build our local AI ecosystem sustainably, with the right incentives to invest, and the necessary infrastructure and skilled workforce to maintain it.
The Statement is backed by two new initiatives:
- $5.5 million Sustainable Data Centre Action Plan
- $8.1 million Digital Jobs – AI Career Conversion program
These initiatives will unlock AI’s economic opportunities, while protecting workers and businesses.
We are backing industry, government, education and communities to adopt and benefit from AI responsibly and confidently – responsibly, inclusively and confidently.
