Strengthening Victoria-Vietnam education ties
In December 2022, Global Victoria was pleased to host the Vietnam-Australia Education Cooperation Forum and welcome to Melbourne the President of Vietnam’s National Assembly, HE Dr Vuong Din Hue.
The visit by the National Assembly President and over 100-person delegation was the first visit to Australia by a senior Vietnamese leader since the start of the pandemic and was an opportunity to highlight the strengths of Victoria’s international education sector.
Australia-Vietnam 50th anniversary celebrations
The Victoria-Vietnam relationship is set to continue to go from strength to strength, creating more opportunities for Victorian exporters as Australia and Vietnam celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations in 2023.
Victoria will be part of a program of events taking place in Vietnam to mark the occasion, and will also partner with the Australia-Vietnam Leadership Dialogue (the Dialogue) in 2023 and 2024.
The partnership was announced by Minister for Trade and Investment, Tim Pallas on his visit to Southeast Asia, and will be held in Melbourne for the first time in 2024. The Dialogue will bring together 20 young leaders from both countries, across business, education, startups, not-for-profit, government and the arts sectors.
Victoria’s sponsorship of the Dialogue complements our education partnerships in Vietnam by supporting youth leadership development and long-term people-to-people links and also builds on the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between Victoria and Ho Chi Minh City.
