Traditional yet dynamic – a partnership for Victorian Exporters headed to the UK and European markets
Over the past year, Global Victoria has had the pleasure to work with over 25 international chambers of commerce, peak industry bodies and business associations through the Global Victoria Trade Alliance (GVTA).
As we emerge from the pandemic, Victorian companies are increasingly looking to diversify their export markets and consider established, more traditional markets as a means to do this – and with free trade agreements with the United Kingdom and European Union on the near horizon, these markets feature prominently.
Global Victoria has worked with the following chambers in the region as part of GVTA:
- Australian British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC)
- French-Australia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FACCI)
- German Australia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK); and
- Netherlands Chamber of Commerce Australia (NCCA).
The GVTA events and activities have delivered critical insights and information, together with facilitating meaningful connections to a wide variety of Victorian exporters.
Highlights from the GVTA with UK & European partners have included:
- meaningful discussions on Victorian-Dutch links in the dynamic agtech and fintech sectors
- a series of compelling discussions on how to empower female entrepreneurs entering the French market;
- a joint Dutch and German seminar on how the Australia-European Union Free Trade Agreement will likely lower tariffs and barriers for our businesses;
- an exchange on the cultural norms of German business culture; and
- a showcase of the many export opportunities for Victorian infrastructure companies in the UK, and a seminar on how to access opportunities within Britain’s National Health Service.
Not only have these partnerships brought great insights to exporters, but has emphasised the importance of working in partnership to achieve common goals.
Bilateral chambers of commerce are invaluable partners for Global Victoria and we are proud to host several of their Victorian offices at International Chamber House. We look forward to our upcoming GVTA events focused on the UK and EU markets and by working in partnership, bringing tangible outcomes for Victorian companies expanding overseas.
