Bringing Latin America to our backyard.
In November 2022, Pablo Schatz and Macarena Fuentes, from our Santiago Victoria Government Trade & Investment (VGTI) team visited Australia to meet with Victorian companies active in Latin America and see first-hand cutting-edge innovation and manufacturing capability in the State.
The tour included visits to Duratray, Gekko Systems, Australian Turntables Company, Bortana (Safescape), Rubicon Water, Green Eco Technologies, Mideco and Coolon LED Lighting. These companies are leaders in their fields and their products and innovations are in high demand in key Latin American markets.
Pablo and Macarena also attended the 2022 International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) to facilitate connections between Victorian and Latin American delegations attending the conference, including from Chile, Peru and Argentina.
Victorian METS companies also had opportunity to engage with Latin American and other international delegates that visited the Global Victoria Pavilion at IMARC and those who attended the METS Spotlight pitches from Victorian technology exporters held at the show.
They also hosted a presentation on Victoria’s credentials as a mining innovation hub in the Asia-Pacific to a trade delegation from Chile, led by the Australia-Chile Chamber of Commerce (Auscham) and AndesMETS.
Exploring new opportunities for Victorian exporters in Latin America
Through the Global Victoria Trade Alliance, we have also worked in partnership with the Australia Latin America Business Council (ALABC) to understand new opportunities for Victorian exporters in Latin America – specifically looking at emerging sectors such as:
- Fintech in Brazil, Chile and Mexico
- Renewable Energy and Hydrogen in Brazil and Chile.
The Global Victoria team also recently undertook scoping studies on opportunities in the beauty and wellness sector for Victorian companies in Mexico and Chile.
